Happy Birthday Jeff! (July 7th)

I just wanted to wish my handsome husband a wonderful 31st birthday. You are my life and I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful person as my partner. Thank you for just being you baby! I love you with every ounce of me!

To everyone who reads this, I wanted to share this special letter that I wrote about Jeff. I wrote the letter to nominate him for the "Husband Award" at our state pageant, when you read it you will understand why he won.

Dear Judges,

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share with you why my husband deserves the “Husband Award”. I am so thankful to have this wonderful and incredibly handsome man in my life. Just to tell you a little bit about him; Jeff is 30 years old and grew up in Somersworth, NH. He graduated from high school with a full academic scholarship to the University of New Hampshire. There he obtained a bachelors degree in Business Administration. Shortly after graduating from college he began his career at Putnam Investments, where after 7 years has worked his way through the ranks to become an Assistant Vice President. Jeff is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met and I am so proud of him!

There are so many things I want to share with you so I will start with one of the most meaningful to me. Last April I was diagnosed with a life threatening heart condition. Jeff was by my side for EVERY doctors appointment (and there were several!), holding my hand and telling me that everything was going to be okay. When I went in for my heart procedure, Jeff escorted me into the operating room and waited nervously for 7 hours while they worked on me. Jeff knew I was nervous about spending my first night in the hospital so he pressed the nurses to let him spend the night with me. He never left my side for a moment, even helping to the restroom when the nurses were not quick enough! He didn’t care that there weren’t any beds available for him; he just slept in an old chair next to me. If I made the slightest peep, he would come to my attention to see what I needed. I could not have made it through that experience if it not for Jeff.

But that is just one reason why Jeff deserves the husband award! I know I am lucky when I say that Jeff doesn’t just take out garbage and fix things around the house, he also cooks, cleans, and does laundry on a regular basis. That came in especially handy when I was out of commission with my illness. But the greatest thing about that is that he doesn’t make me feel like less of a wife because I was unable to do things around the house. In fact, if I have a hard day at work he often just tells me just to get into comfy clothes and relax; he will take care of dinner and the house.

Since being diagnosed with my heart condition I have dedicated my time and energy to volunteering for the American Heart Association. I participated and volunteered in several events for the AHA and Jeff has been there every single time! Even if it means he has to wait around while I get my make-up done for a Go Red for Women fashion show or he has to walk 5 miles in a walk-a-thon. He is aware of how much this means to me and has been more supportive than I could ever ask for.

Lastly, I wanted to let you know how fortunate I am to have someone in life that is supportive of my dreams. Pageants are my hobby, from competing, judging and coaching, I love it all! People have a hard time believing that he has attended every pageant I have ever competed in and judged!! He has even attended pageants with me for girls that I coach! I don’t know many men that would do that! It’s a joke in our house that there have been times when he has even missed Red Sox games to attend a pageant with me!

I know how lucky I am to have Jeff in my life and I cannot tell him enough how much I appreciate him. Please consider my husband Jeff Plante for the husband award, he deserves the recognition for being an amazingly wonderful husband.

Thank you,

Jessica Plante
